What is the event about?

Join the Women's Museum of California and American History Theater for three weekends of plays celebrating extraordinary women in politics and entertainment, September 16th – October 30th, 2017. The plays this year include an interactive two women show about First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, a musical review of women from the Golden Age of Hollywood, and Golda's Balcony, the longest-running one-woman show in Broadway history.

Golda’s Balcony

The life and times of Golda Meir, a woman who rose from the pogroms of Russia to the halls of the Knesset in Israel, to become one of the most influential leaders of the Twentieth Century. Directed by Melissa Malloy, and starring M. Susan, Golda’s Balcony covers the story of a people who faced centuries of discrimination, segregation, and abuse throughout European history. When the horrors of the Holocaust were acknowledged, Jewish leaders demanded a return to their historical homeland. When the state of Israel was established by the United Nations in 1948, Golda Meir was one of those founders who eventually rose to lead her new nation in a war for survival. The one-woman play includes the names and voices of many world leaders of the 1950’s and 60’s.
