We are pleased to mark the start of March, Women’s History Month with the opening of the Women’s Museum of California’s new show, One Woman’s Journey, a solo exhibition by fine art photographer Francine Filsinger.

One Woman’s Journey explores the generational struggle for equality through a series of photographs Filsinger created for the Museum.  Curator Kathleen Adam feels, “Francine’s photography offers her own perspective on issues the modern woman faces throughout her life’s journey.”  The display of artifacts from the Museum’s historical collection alongside Filsinger’s moving photographs emphasizes the strides women have made over time.

In her photography, Francine believes she is “not simply documenting a moment but I am living it...breathing it...entwining myself in it.”  The combination of Filsinger’s past work with her two new series focusing on women provides the blunt truth, while not overwhelming the viewer.
