WAOWED IN SAN DIEGO
Women Artists of the West (WAOW) will hold its 44th annual members’ national exhibition at the Women’s Museum of California in San Diego, opening on May 2, from 5pm to 8pm. WAOW is a national organization with approximately 250 award winning, professional women painters and sculptors from across the country. This non-profit group fosters appreciation and promotion of art created by women. They achieve these goals by fostering technical excellence, professionalism and unity within the group. Members meet strict criteria and must be juried into this prestigious organization, and also must be juried into the show.
Women Artists of the West had its beginnings in Norco, California in 1971 with a handful of women artists wanting to network as professionals and compete in the world of art. The organization has experienced many changes and much growth in the decades since its creation by artists focusing on western themes. Today, the membership of WAOW reaches across and throughout the country with members in more than 30 states, and encompasses all genres and themes. The common thread of WAOW artists is the passion for their work, and the desire to express the joy and beauty of the world around them.
The show runs from May 2 through 31, 2014. The museum is located at 2730 Historic Decatur Road, Barracks 16, Dan Diego, CA 92106. For further details visit our website.
