Library

The Helen Hawkins Memorial Research Library boasts over 5,000 volumes on women's history, some rare and out of print, that date from the mid-1800s to the present. The specific focus of the library is late 19th and 20th century American women's history. Books do not circulate at this time but are available to the public for use during the museum's open hours as well as to research scholars by appointment. We are accumulating a significant Reference Section, including a section for children and young adults.

Part of library contains a collection of out-of-print and one-of-a kind journals and periodicals including:

• A complete set of Ms. Magazines from the original publication date in 1968 available for research.
• The History of Women's Suffrage, by Susan B. Anthony and Ida Husted Harper. Volumes I-VI. (First edition)
• Journal of Home Economics, Vols. 1-54 (1909-1962).
• Women's Review of Books
• The ForeRunner periodicals by Charlotte Perkins Gilman from 1909 to 1914
• WOMAN in the Past, Present, Future by August Bebel, 1897
