5:00 PM: Red Carpet and VIP Reception at THE LOT

The creators and cast of the selected Festival films, along with VIP guests, will walk the red carpet and enjoy a VIP cocktail reception at THE LOT to kick of the 2017 Women’s Film Festival San Diego.

6:00 PM: Different Flowers

A dramedy about finding yourself in the middle of nowhere.

Full of girl power, kooky characters, and real heart, Different Flowers is an independent dramedy feature film written and directed by Morgan Dameron. Millie and Emma are sisters with a rocky relationship who bring out the best and worst in each other. When Emma helps Millie run out on her big Kansas City wedding, they embark on an adventure neither could have anticipated.

Morgan Dameron is a writer, director, and sometimes producer. Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, she first picked up a video camera at age eight and has not set one down since. She received a Trustee scholarship to the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts, where she graduated summa cum laude. Her award-winning short films have been selected to play at film festivals worldwide. She has worked on such films as Star Trek Into Darkness, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

8:00 PM: About The Film Panel

Writer and director Morgan Dameron and Different Flowers stars Emma Bell and Hope Lauren will take part in a Q&A panel discussion about making the film and the challenges young women face in the film industry.
