Walking Tours

This free tour travels between treasured park landmarks and discusses the remarkable women who contributed to the park’s rich history. The tour is hosted by the Balboa Park Visitors Center, and is the product of a collaboration between the Women’s Museum of California, San Diego History Center, and Forever Balboa Park.

Back when it was still called City Park, Kate Sessions founded a plant nursery which was the foundation of her vision for Balboa Park.

The womens fight for a role in the 1915 Panama-California Exposition at Balboa Park involved some of the most notable women in the city’s history.
