Women’s Museum Receives $300,000

Please celebrate with us! The Women’s Museum has received an exceptional gift this holiday season: a transformative $300,000 grant from the Conrad Prebys Foundation. This is the largest single gift in the museum’s history and signals the dawn of a new and exciting era.

The funds will support the Women’s Museum as it shares resources with the San Diego History Center in Balboa Park. As part of this new and exciting collaboration, we are looking forward to our first exhibition within the San Diego History Center. The exhibit will celebrate the iconic character Carmen Sandiego and one of her creators, SDSU alum, Janese Swanson. We also look forward to more programs at the History Center, building on our highly successful Women’s Equality Day commemoration in August and our monthly women’s history walking tours.

Our presence in Balboa Park will revolutionize the museum’s ability to reach larger and more diverse audiences. We’re excited to take our mission to the next level and further our commitment to inclusivity, education, and empowerment, as we continue to honor the achievements and stories of women throughout history.

As Board President Sandra Maas expressed, “For 40 years, The Women’s Museum of California has educated and inspired San Diegans and tourists with exhibitions and programs that document and celebrate the contributions of women in our region and beyond. With this grant, the Women’s Museum will be able to expand our impact into the next 40 years.”

We are enduringly grateful for our WMC family which has supported, shaped, and strengthened the Museum over the decades. Thank you! We invite you to be a part of this new adventure! Your donation to the Women’s Museum today expresses your support for the museum’s leadership in San Diego and amplifies the power of the Prebys Foundation’s generous support.

As we celebrate this incredible milestone for our museum, we thank you for the role you play in promoting the legacies of women through programs, historical and cultural exhibits, film, and archival documentation. Please help us match the Conrad Prebys Foundation’s generous support and consider making a donation to the Women’s Museum of California.
